It is half way through summer and golfers are in full swing.
I have only golfed a few times in the past and cannot say that I ever had much success in finding an honest way to come up with a “good” score card. I say honest because part of the fun and tactics around mulligans can really bring out our true personalities as we share our friendships on the course.
There are some that say chasing around a little white ball is ridiculous and merely an excuse to have a beer! Others will look for every chance to play even though they really cannot afford it, or that their hopes of becoming a professional are truly unrealistic.
Most of us “golfers” can appreciate a round of golf for its real value. To be temporarily removed from our everyday pressures and enjoy the day with the freedom to make fun of ourselves or with ourselves.
Here are a few golf quotes that may spark a chuckle or two!
I have a tip that can take five strokes off anyone’s golf game: it’s called an eraser. ~Arnold Palmer
Golf is like a love affair. If you don’t take it seriously, it’s no fun; if you do take it seriously, it breaks your heart. ~Arthur Daley
When I die, bury me on the golf course so my husband will visit. ~Author Unknown

The reason the pro tells you to keep your head down is so you can’t see him laughing. ~Phyllis Diller
There is one thing in this world that is dumber than playing golf. That is watching someone else playing golf. What do you actually get to see? Thirty-seven guys in polyester slacks squinting at the sun. Doesn’t that set your blood racing? ~Peter Andrews
If you drink, don’t drive. Don’t even putt. ~Dean Martin
It is more satisfying to be a bad player at golf. The worse you play, the better you remember the occasional good shot. ~Nubar Gulbenkian, 1972
One of the most fascinating things about golf is how it reflects the cycle of life. No matter what you shoot — the next day you have to go back to the first tee and begin all over again and make yourself into something. ~Peter Jacobsen
You are meant to play the ball as it lies, a fact that may help to touch on your own objective approach to life. ~Grantland Rice
